Why have the Packer's won? Mainly because of the tough bend but not break defense. The win in week one was definitly due to the defense's play. Week 2 and 3's wins were due to the young players on offense steping up and making plays. Brett Favre is playing like a kid again and it shows in the performance of the offense. Young wide-recivers like rookie James Jones and Greg Jennings have steped up.
Last year Favre had no faith in anyone but Driver but this season the addition of James Jones and a healthy Jennings and many others he has plenty of hands ready to catch his bullet passes. In the Packer's week 3 win against the Charger's Brett Favre threw 28 complete passes for 369 yards and 3 touchdowns. Six of those completions and 126 of those yards were to Donald Driver. Jennings had 4 catches for 82 yards including the game winning TD and James Jones had 6 catches for 79 yards. Bubba Franks only had one catch but it was for a TD. Last year Bubba dropped so many passes that could have been TD's but so far Bubba has had a turn around and you can tell because Favre is throwing to him again.
The only thing that concerns me is the running game. The Packer's have none. in 3 weeks Rookie Brandon Jackson has 38 rushing attempts for 97 yards. Thats only 2.6 yards per carry. Rookie DeShawn Wynn has shown promise but he's only had a few carries per game. A big part of this problem is the injured Vernand Morency. When he comes back I think the running game will get alot better. Jackson and Wynn are good sub in once and a while but i do not think they are every down players, yet. Wynn and Jackson have both done great coming out of the backfield and making catches.
The defense has been great. They bend but havent broken yet. Against the Chargers they allowed Tomlinson only 62 yards the longest being the 11 yards which is awesome. Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila had 2 sacks and Nick Barrnett had a game ending interception. The defense has kept us in every game so far and i hope they keep it up. The defense has played solid not giving up the big plays like they used todo.
The Packer's are the youngest team in the NFL and sometimes it shows. But witht the leadership of Brett Favre on offense and the defense playing so tough the Packer's have started the 2007 season off with a bang....not a bang more of a BOOM. I havent been this excited about the Packer's since the last time i saw them play this good in 1996 and they won the Super Bowl that year. I'm not saying they will win the big game this year but the young players are showing that they can play.
The Packer's have a very good chance to win the next 3 games. They play Minnesota on 9/30 , the Bears on 10/7 and the Redskins on 10/14. All very winable games. I say GO PACK GO!

Post a CommentThey gave up 2 RB's to Texans, that was sad. Had they stayed, Packers could've been more dominant.
