Ever wanted to feel like a king or a queen? Or how about being dazzled by your prince charming or being saved by your knight and shining armor? How about dancing with your princess under the moonlight? If you are a fan of King Arthur's time, then you can have your wedding to be a Medieval Wedding!

Have your wedding in a castle and a huge banquet for your reception. Your menu may include roast boar, goose, fresh fruits, tarts, cheese, custard, or mulled wine. Ale, beer, or wine would also be a treat for the guests. Experience how the kings and queens eat during their times. Aside from food, another factor that would make your wedding have the medieval touch is to have the proper attire. Have your entourage dressed like princesses and princes, the bride as a queen, and the groom as the king. And for the guests; let the men wear doublets, breeches and hose and the women wear Juliet-style dresses. Relive the renaissance in your wedding and follow these guidelines to achieve the proper medieval look.

For the groom, you can be romantic to really dazzle your bride. That is what usually tickles a woman's heart. So dress to impress the girl of your dreams on your big day! Try wearing a cotton shirt and a tunic with a velvet cape. Match it with a pair of knickers, socks, shoes, and a hat with a feather to accent your attire. This would really give you the Romeo-look, making your bride feel like she is Juliet. For a more macho look, try light-weight and heavy-duty shirts with medieval styling like wide, puffy sleeves, tied cuffs and neck openings. The shirts can go in navy, grey, brown, mustard, teal, plum, wine, and forest green. You can match this with bottoms that are royal blue, tan, black, burgundy, or forest green in color.

For the bride, dress also to impress the man that dazzled you. You have also got to do your part of looking good in you wedding day. For a fair, timid lady-like look, wear an overdress with a veil and tiara as accents. Or you could start off with a white chemise. Then you can accessorize it with a vest or a corset to fully emphasize the curves of your body. Have also your chemise trimmed with metallic gold and its neckline squared to make it more eye-catching. The vest may have floral patterns or a diamond tapestry. If you are planning to have a white dress to symbolize purity, you might consider getting a blue one. In the medieval times, blue is the color for purity and not white. You can have a variation of a white dress with blue trimmings. And to top it all, the tiara gives the royalty feel. If you cannot afford a tiara, you can just have a head roll, a padded velvet circle worn on the head to hold a veil in place.

As for the ceremony, to make it more medieval, you should also choose the proper accessories. Dragons, a symbol of passion, monogamy, and love, could also become a good adornment in your wedding. You could have a dragon pendant or make your wine goblets embellish with a dragon ornament. In one of Richard Strauss's opera, the Rose Cavalier, Baron Ochs sent a handsome knight to give Lady Sophia a silver rose to declare the baron's love for the fair lady. You can also have a pewter rose pendant to indicate your undying love to your partner.

But aside from all the frills and dresses, we must also consider that we do not need to exaggerate your attire. Remember that you also need to become comfortable while looking fabulous. After all, this is your day. And consider also the long sessions of picture taking with the family. Enjoy and celebrate your day as if you are in the middle ages.
