Goat's Milk: Helping People that Are Allergic to Cow's Milk , Get Milk

As legend has it, Cleopatra bathed in goat's milk to keep her skin silky and smooth. It is the milk of choice in most of the world; it was widely consumed in ancient Greece and Rome. It is known for its slightly sweet and sometimes lightly salted flavor. It can be made in to almost anything cow's milk can be made into, like ice cream, yogurt, and cheese. Goat's milk does not need to be homogenized, unlike cow's milk.

Like cow's milk, it is high in calcium and protein. The different between the two milk's is the size of the molecular globules that make-up the milk. The molecular globules of cow's milk are much larger than in goat's milk. This is because cow's milk in meant to quickly increase a calf's weight, up to 1,000 pounds in one year. The lager globules is the reason some human can have a hard time digesting cow's milk. It is called being lactose-intolerant. Statistics say one in ten people are allergic to cow's milk.

The molecular globules of goat's milk is similar in size to the molecular globules that make-up human milk, that is why it is easier for people to tolerate and digest. Making it a good alternative to soymilk for lactose-intolerant people that are also allergic to soy or that just do not like the stuff.

One serving of goat's milk has 13 percent more calcium than cow's milk, 25 percent more vitamin B6, 47 percent more vitamin A, 134 percent more potassium and three times more niacin.

But it does lack in several necessary nutrients for growing infants, so if you are going to use a goat milk based formula instead of cow's milk ask your pediatricians how you can get these vital nutrients into your baby diet. Nevertheless, for older children and adults it is a great source of calcium. This is important for healthy strong bones, a diet rich in calcium has been shown to protect against colon cancer, prevent migraines. However like cow's milk in contains cholesterol and saturated fats, so I can be bad if you have high cholesterol (just like cow's milk).

There is a myth that goat's milk can cure stomach ulcers, but that is just that, a myth. Like cow's milk in contains proteins that increases acid in the stomach. Which, is not good for ulcers.

Fresh goat's milk is the best, because it has the highest amounts of nutrients. If cannot get fresh milk, freshly homogenized milk is just as good. It also comes in dried and canned variety. Even tough the milk keeps its protein, dried and canned milk has the least amount of vitamins.

Most mainstream supermarkets and health food stores in the US sell some form of goat's milk, if not talk to the stores manger about ordering some. They just might.

Some claim it can alleviate rosaceous and eczema. It has the same pH as human skin, and is absorbed easily in it. It also has a moisturizing and rejuvenating effect on your skin. Making it a great base for soaps and other beauty products.

I myself am not a fan of eating or drinking goat's milk but, I am picky, I will try it again if someone offers it to me but I am not going to go buy any.
