The Christian scientist had a view that was unique to me. He suggested that God exists outside our time and space continuum and, therefore did create evolution purposefully. He created everything except He does not interfere with free will. This scientist did not argue the "big bang" theory. He just philosophically stated that God caused it to happen. The Time reporter asked him which one of the six physical constants did he think was most important in proving the existence of God. The Christian scientists answer was that the gravitational constant was most important, because if it was off one tenth of a billion percent, life could not exist as we know it.
The atheistic point of view was that it basically took an idiot to believe in a supreme being "tweeking knobs" to make things just right. He was relatively defenseless in my view. The scientific community has become overwhelmingly atheistic. Disbelief dominates science disciplines with only 5.5% believing in God. Scientists acknowledge that belief among the general population remains largely unchanged in regard to creation vs. evolution. A well considered question would be could evolutionism be regarded as a religion?
The Christian point of view, offered Occam's Razor as an example. Occam states that all things being equal, the most straightforward and simple answer is the answer that should be considered. What could be more straightforward than God?
I have a friend who is one of the most faithful men I know, and he stated that he is puzzled by the indisputable evidence of dinosaurs. After discussing this, we decided that the Garden of Eden was a place, as Birmingham or Atlanta are "places", and did not encompass the entire world. We theorized that what happened there was what God wanted us to focus on; but did not necessarily have a bearing on what happened to the rest of the world at the same, or different time.
I think that entire article and my friend and I discussing dinosaurs is boiled down to nothing but faith. That's my opinion...faith. That's why I think I (and I stress "I") should stay away from articles and TV shows that propose a scientific answer instead of God.
Life is hard. How horrible it must be to think that this is all there is.
