You could say that God beat bicyclists in this last battle in DUMBO.

Recently, the First Presbyterian Church and police officials came to a compromise that will allow parishioners to continue to park in the bike lane along Henry Street during church services. The church is on Henry Street near Clark.

Bicyclists living and biking in DUMBO seem to feel that this agreement really isn't a compromise at all. In fact, churchgoers have been parking illegally in the bike lane for years. It's just officially allowed now.

City officials will allow people to park in the bike lane during church services on Sundays only from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Regardless of the time restrictions, the new parking compromise will likely cause accidents and can be considered a danger to cyclists in the area. The church counters with the argument that there simply isn't enough parking in the area.

We'll have to wait and see how long the compromise lasts.Source - The Brooklyn Paper
