Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition, endorsed Rudy Giuliani for president today in a surprising political move that could help the GOP's least-qualified candidate win the Republican party's nomination.
Why is this surprising? Well, for one, Pat Robertson has said that 9/11 was the result of our nation's losing favor with God, for allowing abortion and Internet pornography. And Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice, (and presumably pro-pornography, at least in between wives).
Yet, Robertson, who says he speaks to God, endorsed Rudy Giuliani, because of his stance on Islamic fundamentalism. In other words, he thinks Rudy is the best candidate to drop bombs on other Muslim countries, like Syria and Iran.
Rudy Giuliani is considered by many people (who don't know any better) to be the best candidate to protect the United States from another terrorist attack (simply because he was the mayor of New York City in September of 2001). Makes sense, right?
Pat Robertson has said that Islam is not a religion, and that Israel's former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a stroke because he gave up land to the Palestinians in exchange for peace. Yes, Pat Robertson is batshit, folks, but that didn't stop Rudy Giuliani from embracing his endorsement.
Rudy Giuliani needs to win over at least some evangelicals in order to win the Republican primary, and his three marriages (one to his second cousin), his adultery, his cross-dressing, his stances on gay marriage and abortion haven't helped. Giuliani hopes that Pat Robertson will help bridge that social gap, so he too can walk on the side of crazy.
Many also believe that Rudy Giuliani may select former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee as his running mate. Huckabee denies the existence of evolution and believes the earth is 6,000 years old. So, yup, Huckabee sounds like the next best running mate to Pat Robertson himself.

Post a CommentGreat article! Apparently, truth is quite offensive :P
Utterly ludicrous... Utterly laughable... I'd bust a gut laughing if it wasn't so damn sad and so G*d**n terrifying.
Jack's right in that this Giuliani fellow would make a lousy president, and possibly in that Robertson is a quack. I don't know enough about Robertson to say for sure, but the irony is interesting to note. Kelly: the difference between killing a baby and killing a terrorist ought to be obvious. Also you are correct in that the offender (abortionist) will have to answer to God, and that He will ultimately judge them, but this does not make it an acceptable practice nor does it mean that we should allow it in our society, regardless of whether it "exists all over the world."
I am still waiting for Satan to come out with his endorsement--probably Hillary. She's got my vote.
I'm not speaking as much about Pat Robertson's choice to endorse Rudy (Robertson's an A1 nutball who wants to back the frontrunner); I'm speaking more about Rudy's choice to accept the endorsement from this lunatic. Rudy is running solely on 9/11. Robertson says 9/11 was our own fault for tolerating abortion rights and Internet porn. Rudy is pro-choice. See the problem?
A Christian writer on this site wrote pretty much the same thing, her disappointment in the endorsement. Robertson doesn't speak for all Christians. Neither does someone who says it's okay to 'bomb the hell out of' millions of Muslims (or Christians or Jews living in their midst), but homosexuality has to go. A very unChristlike message. In the all out war to support the preborn innocents (not so much once they're actually born) many have lost track of the reality that legalized or illegal abortion exists all over the world and always has - and the sin of abortion is between God and the person who opts to have an abortion. But, it becomes about power and imposition of will, not about Religion or Morality. Robertson exemplifies that with his endorsement.
I agree with David. Haven't you ever seen the bumper sticker that says "It's a Baby, not a Choice?" It's true, killing is a sin according to the commandments I've read!
Flatterer. XD Anyway, it's interesting to note that although you said i was offending women, look who's defending me... Another thing: i'd rather offend the occasional woman's "right to choose" than to deny millions of babies the right to be born without getting their skulls crushed with forcepts.
In Rudy's defense: "9/11, 9/11, 9/11!" Hell of a speech, right?
Then by all means, Anne, skip the articles with my name attached to them. I will, however, continue to read the Comments posted on my articles, and I find them offensive, I will state so.
