God Keeps Me Lonely

Ed Robbins
God keeps me lonely
Feeling down and out
Running out of energy
Running into doubt

Feeling blue I wander through
The smoke rings of my mind
While on my way, I come upon
A wondrous space in time

It's deep and wide and chilling too
Like a river from the snow
It's crisp embrace it steals my face
It chills me to the bone

I carry on, a soldier's son
A sargeant clad in grey
I buckle down I cross my crown
And on my knees I pray

Why I am so quiet
Why I act this way
I really couldn't tell you
But if I could I wouldn't say

God keeps me lonely
Keeping me in pain
Keeping me from seeing you
The thought of gentle rain.
