…And he is not necessarily a Christian, either. For argument's sake, I will concede, however sarcastically, that there exists some being with a white beard who has dominion over everything that happens. That means, God is so inconsiderate sometimes that He takes time to speak to an anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic senile spokesman for the extreme right idiots named Pat Robertson. I, surely along with God (does he have a big earth covering flat screen or does He merely watch CNN and Fox News?) have been watching those bottom-of-the-barrel politicians scrambling to use God as their way to the White House next November. Surely, He must be thinking, "Why didn't I stop on the fifth day?" (To which Darwinians are sure to point out, He did!).
God and religion have no place in American politics, no matter how much some politicians want to kowtow (as in Iowa) to so-called Evangelical Christians who tend to be lower- and middle-class cretins who believe Jews killed Christ and that He only died for the sins of a chosen few, and those few (i.e. Evangelical Christians) ought to run this country. Has no one ventured to explain to these educationally malnourished folks that our Founding Fathers (who were undoubtedly Christian) believed that this new nation could not exist if religion and government were not definitively separated. The 600 club aside, America was not meant to be- and is not- a "Christian" nation. It is not Santorum's Catholic nation nor Romney's Mormon nation. Neither Benedict XVI, Joseph Smith, Brigham Young or Martin Luther or Moses have any standing at the polling places or in our three separate but equal governmental functions. The Tea Party-ers can wiggle their cellulite thighs all they want at revival meetings, but God is really not on their side, no matter how faithfully they tithe.
My family and I were harassed and finally evicted from the last government to think of itself as a Christian nation- Nazi Germany. There so-called evangelical Christians became storm troopers and death camp guards and, to their thankfully dying days, believed that God was reincarnated in Adolf Hitler. Today, these right-wing freaks see Obama and the Democrats as if they were Jews, ready to be slandered and forcibly ejected from their rightful place in our government and our daily lives. Gingrich is a white-maned pot-bellied Goebbels, with his blonde faithful Magda at his side. Santorum is Rudolph Hess and Romney the smooth-talking Albert Speer.
God slept in the 1930s and '40's. If there is a God, I trust He is now wide awake and a little alarmed about what His creation, the human race, is doing to itself.
