Daniel in the Lion's Den
One of the most famous stories of God miraculously preserving life is the story of Daniel in the lion's den. Some of Daniel's co-workers don't like Daniel, so they try to get him in trouble. They can't find any fault with him, other than the fact that he loves his God. So they ask King Darius to pass a law making it illegal for anyone to pray to anybody but him for 30 days. Daniel still believes that praying is important, even if it is against the law. He continues to pray, and is caught. Although he is thrown into the lion's den, he is miraculously spared. It isn't because these lions aren't hungry: immediately after his safe release, the conspirators who had Daniel thrown into the lions' den are thrown into the pit themselves, and they don't even make it to the ground alive.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
Some of Daniel's friends in Babylon are Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. King Nebuchadnezzar declares that everybody has to bow down to a giant statue when the music plays. Of course, these teens will only bow to God, and refuse to bow down to an idol. This angers the king, and they are thrown into a fiery furnace for their belief. Miraculously, they are unharmed.
John the Apostle
While there is some dispute over whether this is true or not, legend has it that John was put in boiling oil, yet he did not die. Since he wouldn't die, he was exiled to the Isle of Patmos, where he wrote the book of Revelation. God wouldn't let him die because he still had something more to do.
George Washington
If God hadn't protected George Washington, he would have never lived to become America's first President under the Constitution. During the Battle of Monongahela during the French and Indian war, Indians purposely fired at him. One Indian claimed to have shot at him 17 times, and believe that "Washington was never born to be killed by a bullet!" George Washington seemed to be bulletproof. God needed Washington to survive so that he could lead the colonies into battle, sit through the Constitutional Convention, and become the United States' first president.
Brother Yun
Brother Yun is still alive today, and is spreading the Gospel around the world, after escaping persecution in China. During one occasion, he was in prison, and didn't eat for seventy-four days, yet amazingly managed to live. While most people think that it is impossible to live for more than a few days without food or water, if God has plans for you to continue living, you will keep on living. God evidently had further plans for Brother Yun, as he has now had the opportunity to travel the world and encourage Christians to live lives for God.
Chinese Christians
In the past several decades, Chinese Christians have overcome many obstacles, faced severe persecution, and have at times been martyred for their beliefs. Although many Chinese Christians have died for their faith, in some cases, God had other plans for people. Some Chinese Christians have been shot at, only to see that their persecutor's guns were misfiring. Others have survived hangings, being burned alive, and being thrown off cliffs.
God can do anything, even prevent people from dying. Although more often than not, Christians do die in dangerous situations like these, if God has other plans for your life, there is nothing that can be done to end your life prematurely.

Post a CommentThanks for reminding me that God's will is supreme. It's so important to remember that it is always his will and not our own that dictates how he relates to us. Thanks for the great article!
Yes, God can protect and save. We must always remember that His overarching goal is always to remake us in the image of His Son. Bless you!
Our God is an awesome God. I pray His Will be done at all times. Yes, I believe in miracles. cheers
