God Says Don't Quit

Charlene Collins
There was a time in my life when I just wanted to quit. The way I deal with depression is to write poetry. I will write myself right out of it, because when I write I feel I am closest to being in God's arms. So I hope anyone reading this, who has been where I have been can appreciate this.

The irony of God profoundly changes the path one takes;

He teaches life's lessons from our mistakes.

There was a time when I wanted to quit.

I prayed to God to let me get off this carousel of life,

When the burdens of life seem to be too much.

Dear God, I said, if you have nothing more for me,

Please let me exit. Let me get off right here; let me be free.

Let me go to sleep and never see the daylight, please.

I'm tired Lord, so tired. I want to be with you.

I am so depressed Lord, don't you see?

I don't want to continue to be.

The burden is too much for me.

I'm tired God, tired of the struggle from day to day.

This carousel of life is more than I can take today.

God answered in his still small voice.

I heard him say:

My child, please listen to me.

You can't stop now!

You know what I've said,

And you know what you've read;

I will never put more on you than you can carry.

My child, you will rise way above where you are.

You will rise above your troubles and you will shine.

You will shine because Jesus is Alive!

So don't you quit. You have a purpose you see.

Your job is to be a witness for Jesus Christ, and Me.

Always do your best; continue to shine.

I will bless you. Continue to be.

Do you best as you glorify me.

    Sister, you ROCK!!! It looks like you have taken the advice of Jeremiah 6:16: "Stand by the ways and see, and look for the old (ancient) path, and walk in it. There you will find rest for your soul."
