In that brief overview, I spoke of how James Brown had requested that Michael Jackson return to music. This was based upon news reports and interviews done by Reverend Al Sharpton. The Reverend Sharpton stated that prior to his death, The Godfather of Soul, James Brown was not pleased with the state of the music industry. Reverend Sharpton went on to state that the Godfather wanted change in music so that it would get back to uplifting people and not downgrading people with derogatory words and negative name calling.
So, is it not interesting that less than six (6) months after the death of the Godfather of Soul, Don Imus makes a statement about (well we know what it was), a certain group of young ladies?
I must say that as the national debate raged on, I sought to find answers to this debate and what it was intended to do. It hit me the other day and I realized that Don Imus not only spawned a debate about Free Speech in America, he was also the catalyst that is propelling both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to address those issues that Mr. Brown was concerned about.....cleaning up the music industry.
I know, that this might sound a little crazy and irrational but stay with me on this. Take for example, the movie GHOST starring Whoppi Goldberg and Patrick Swayze. If you remember , the Goldberg character was inhabited by the spirit of the Swayze character in order to help his wife solve the mystery of his death/murder. Are you getting it now? Ok, so if we follow the GHOST movie, we see that ghosts do not discriminate. They simply choose living bodies that are open and well, will help them accomplish the work they could not finish in life.
So for those that believe in spiritual reincarnation or life after death, I'm just saying....Don Imus just might be the "channel" that James Brown needed to change the music industry.
Still pondering? Check out the video from Mr. Brown's Homecoming Ceremony in Augusta Georgia. Pay close attention to the central figures here. Listen to their speeches then fast forward to now and see who's currently leading the charge against derogatory words in music. Can we say, Reverends Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson? Post a CommentYou're stretching it a bit, :) It is an interesting observation but more of a coincidence than anything, and the industry hasn't cleaned up, r and b is getting worse and rap is just as empty as ever, "wipe me down", "put you to bed", "makin' money", "umbrella", no one has to curse or use profanity anymore the lyrics are all to "subtle" in their own right. We were better off with the profanity, at least then we weren't slick enough with the euphemisms.
Interesting, but I think that would be giving Imus too much credit. I do believe spirits can use humans bodies, but don't think Imus would be 'open' enough for Brown to get inside. I can still picture the "godfather" dancing down the steps at Yankee stadium on some television show. To think "little Michael Jackson" was watching the same show at the same time I was and deciding that was what he wanted to do. "It won't be nothing without a woman"~maybe James should start jumping in some heads and singing that message.
Well from my own beliefs, I do not believe in reincarnation, however, I do believe in life after death. I believe that James Brown was sincere before he died about the cleaning up of the music, but I do not believe that he is a ghost or talking through people. I think that we have all recognized how degrading and ignorant the rap industry has become and it has just now become a major issue since the Imus specticle. i think that JB was speaking from his heart when he made the statements, it is too bad that not enough of us are willing to do the same.
PS....Happy Birthday is in order, as yesterday 5/3 was the Godfather of Soul's date of birth.
I believe in life after death. We cannot say that nothing is there just because we cannot see or perceive something. This universe is a mystery of many wonders. Ghosts, souls and demons are all part of it. Some believe in it and some don't.
Hmmmmm! I never really considered this, and there may be something "spiritual" at work here indeed. This article is going to be a BIG hit with those who are into parapsychology, sprituality and cosmic forces. I suspect Rod Serling (creator and writer, "The Twilight Zone")is smiling in heaven at theory you put forth. An extremely interesting concept and a GREAT article. "The G-man"
great twist on this subject! Keep up the good work :)
it all makes sense...
