God's Laws Are Not Abolished

Amanda Kidd
Before the law was given, sin existed. In fact, man gave decrees and statutes before God gave the Ten Commandments, however, the Bible records Jesus stating, He was not pleased with the laws set by man. God gave Moses new laws to honor, and He abolished the laws of man, not His Ten Commandments, decrees, or statutes. These commandments were given to the Israelites first, but are to be honored by all of God's children, because the Word says, teach these commandments to your children from generation to generation. Many believe God's laws were abolished because we're saved under grace through faith. This is false Christianity. If laws were abolished, Jesus' second coming and judgment day are futile, and so is the judicial system because God first spoke, Thou shall not murder, steal, covet.... If laws were abolished, then our spouses can have extramarital relationships because there's no adultery. Your kids can dishonor you without punishment, after all, no laws remember?

Romans states, "Shall we sin because we're not under law but under grace? By no means!" So what does God mean by not under law but grace? God saves us by the gift of grace to eliminate boastful Christians claiming they earned their salvation. All of our righteousness is truly like filthy rags, so by faith we believe that God has justified our sins and given us the gift of grace. The Ten Commandments are not to be honored because it's law, but as our spiritual act of worship. They also teach obedience and holy living for God's children. How would we recognize sin if God didn't prescribe His laws, so Commandments are beneficial. When God says we are not under law but under grace, He clearly means you're not saved by the law, but by grace through faith. When we live apart from the law, this is sinful because the law is spiritual. Those who are controlled by the sinful nature need the laws as a reminder that they're sinning. Those who are holy and blameless aren't under law because there are no laws against righteousness. So offer your temples to holiness because this pleases the Lord.
