God's Promise in Spring

Winter's Cold Will Depart with Spring's Warmth-

M.S.Medina
White wisps slide lazily through the azure sky.
Green shoots poke heads up to peek above the sod.
Birds trill 'hello' to newly-hatched chicks,
Spring has arrived and is celebrating God.

Spring is the time for renewal and birth.
Everything old becomes new.
Hope knows no bounds at this time of the year,
New beginnings are waiting for you.

Don't despair, keep on trying,
good things just like spring will return.
Like nature around us we sleep and we wake,
Life comes with the winter as well as the spring
as lessons from living we take.

The cold and the darkness will not last long,
as we stop and we look all around,
as God's wonderful creation renews,
Winter will pass as the hard times do
and Spring time will come back to you.

The earth is full of renewal and joy,
which gives us hope for the time,
When Winter discloses it's empty, cold embrace,
and God's purpose and beauty's sublime.

It seemed like back East there were only two seasons: Winter and Summer. Last week it was actually 83 degrees there to 63 here in So Cal. I said: no fair!

I agree that spring is a time of new beginnings. Have you ever read the works of Cardinal Henri Nouwen. His writings were influienced by is Faith and by Van Gough the artist. He wrote a book called Eternal Seasons, and he focusses on how the seasons, and the movments of nature in general, reflect the life of Christ.

Spring is an interesting time of year, but it meant more to me when I was back in the Northeast, where spring was actually a rebirth. In California, there are only two main seasons, Summer and Christmas.
