God's Voice Through His Creation

God speaks to his children in several ways. Among which are; through his word, the Holy Bible, through writings of his people, through words spoken by his people, in our thoughts and through life experiences. We must learn to cultivate that hearing ear so that we may prosper in God. We come to the Lord as babes, but all babies must grow up into a more mature knowledge of our Father.

Lately I have had many thoughts quickened to me about horses. Pictures of horses . words about horses and videos featuring horses have caught my attention. I have learned to recognize that these are nudgings from the Lord to pursue a lesson in life. To capture these thoughts and to pray into understanding will bring heavenly wisdom which we can then apply to our pursuit of growing up in the Lord.Through devoted prayer and study of scriptural truth, we can learn to apply the things we are hearing from him to our own lives and also to give words to others for their edification.

I come to share with you what I have gleaned from the things I have studied and prayed through. I do hope I can sow something into your life which will increase your understanding and blessing in the Lord. To better understand God's purposes and ways, we can compare ourselves to his creation, which he loves.

What do horses represent to us? Among other things, they are creatures of strength and beauty/ They are beasts of burden who have since the beginning of time been used to perform great service to man . The early armies of KIng David, and all medieval kings, depended entirely on the horse and chariot for defense from the enemies of the nation.

We see that horses are beautiful and majestic animals and are symbolic of strength, speed, power and service, bold and strong beasts of burden. In the prophecies from the book of Joel, God says his mighty end time army has the appearance of horses. The matured disciple demonstrates strength, beauty and trustworthy service to both God and man through Christ in us, the hope of glory. We are as war horses in the earth realm, trained and made strong in him and in the power of his might. We are created to carry the power of the Holy Spirit into the fields of the earth.

Joel 2:4

The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called FaithfulandTrue, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war

We know that horses must be trained and prepared. They need to be tamed and gentled by their master.

Psalm 32:9

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Horses from birth are wild and undisciplined. They fear discipline and control by their master. Tender love and care in disciplines and instructions is required. Just as the wild horse, we come to the Lord with a wild and independent nature. We must be reined in and prepared for our service. We learn to submit ourselves to God's disciplines. Jesus taught that a man must be born again and made worthy of the kingdom of God. The old independent nature must be put off and the new nature of trust and obedience put on. The colt must be reined in and tenderly handled while still fearful and wild. There is a wooing process; the young animal must learn that the trainer is trustworthy. He must learn that the trainer is his master and be taught to obey him. After a while, as this necessary trust is built, and he is then prepared to be saddled and ridden. That transition can prove to be difficult and painful!. We all go through gradual stages of growth, and often we experience challenging times of transitioning from one level of learning to the next.

The breaking of the wild nature of the horse is unique to every animal. Some submit more quickly that others, and the breaking process might be shorter. Some may resist being handled for a longer period of time and require extra time in the pasture while being fed and domesticated. The end purpose is the same for all, but the process is different for the individual animal.

Horses are also symbolic of Enemy armies!

Again, the power and might of the enemy is represented in God's word by the strength and number of his horses and chariots. Our mortal enemy, satan, uses power and might in an evil way against the people of God. An example of that is seen in Jeremiah 12. God gently rebukes the prophet for his dread of the persecution of false friends. He has been rejected by friends for speaking the strong word of the Lord to them.

Jeremiah 12:5

If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? and if in the land of peace your enemies have wearied you, then how will you do in the swelling of Jordan?

God simply tells him that the "footmen" he had dealt with thus far were the easy part, and that he must persevere and prepare for worse; for enemy horses (stronger spiritual wars). The swelling of the Jordan, the river flood stage, was a very difficult place to navigate.

Scripture also reveals that the might and power of man does not please God. The strengths of man must be transformed into the meekness of dependence on Christ. The strategies of the enemy are manifested through men very often. The hidden plan of the enemy is to control and to distract us from God's plan for our lives.

Psalm 147:10

He delights not in the strength of the horse: he takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Zechariah 4:6 '

Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power,but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

The strategies of the enemy are manifested through men very often. This is the kind of power we must be trained to deal with in love by the good fight of faith. By the power and wisdom of the indwelling spirit, we become as wise as serpents and as harmless as dove, while being always ready and willing to mount up for the battles ahead! We are protected by his might and power as we submit with joy to his plan for our service in meekness.

A word study of the scriptures about horses is fascinating and enlightening! For example; the number of horses and chariots for King Solomon's army was shown as a sign of God's blessing, a demonstration of wealth and strength. Also, we can see one instance of heavenly hosts of horses and chariots shown to a prophet in the midst of attack to encourage and build confidence in God's protection. We can recall the mighty victory of God over Pharoah's chariots and horses. So much to be revealed to the seeker!

His banner over us is love!

Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
