Going, Going. Gone

Dedicated to Brother Lukous Who Preached a Sermon Tonight on the Importance of a Man's Soul

Shirley A Mandel
This little verse may seem negative, but it isn't really. We Americans need to learn what are the really important things in life: faith, family, and country, and stop worrying so much about our stuff. What difference does it make how big and elaborate your house is as long as it is a happy home.

Lets put away our tinsel toys now and really start living life. Let's repent of our national sin of greed and start living for Jesus.

Your precious things
are like grains of loose sand
falling from between
your fingers,
and there are many grains of sand
on the beach,
but soon
and very soon
the entire beach
will be gone.

I think it's okay to enjoy some material things, to be grateful for what you have, but to keep it in perspective and ask yourself if by having so many things, it robs you of time with your kids because you have to work so much to pay for it, or if you choose not to give to charity because you would rather have bigger and better trivial things.

Heaven and earth shall pass away. There aren't enough years for us to collect stuff that will be meaningful. Once you lose you home to fire, flood, or any other natural
outside force you then learn that your life and soul has been left in tact for a reason.
You are a piece of a complicated puzzle and more important than a sparrow. What is so important about your stuff?
