Hawaii is a vacation that most people dream about. If you think about planning a trip to Hawaii, you may be asking yourself when the best time is to go. Hawaii does not have an off season. The winter months are January and February, but there are many unique things to do and see in Hawaii that will attract the most avid traveler. Places like Waimea are great to visit to catch a gnarly wave. The western shore of Maui allows you to catch a glimpse of the humpback whale. You'll also be able to see the changing landscape from east to west.

If you are just learning to surf, travelers should check out Wakiki beach in Honolulu. The shallow and calm waters will help to become a pro-surfer in no time. The waves only reach a maximum of two to three feet. Surfing lessons cost on average of thirty-five dollars per hour for private lessons. There is also an additional expense for renting a surfboard and equipment.

A wonderful site to spot a whale is to Ma'alaea Bay. The shallow waters of the bay offer protection from possible shark attacks. Whales can be seen by just walking on the beach.
