Going to Heaven: God's Plan and Every Good Man's Destiny?

Tristen Shaw
For centuries Christians everywhere have believed that if you are good and go to Church, then when you die you will be rewarded with eternal life in heaven. But, is that really what God has lined up for us? Why don't we look into the Bible and see what our creator has to say on the subject.

Look at God's original purpose.

If you read Genesis over pretty well (look closely at Genesis 2:15) there is no mention or even a hint that God had promised Adam he would live in heaven at any point. His purpose was to live on the earth and cultivate the garden Jehovah had created. Yes, things changed after he sinned but, does this mean Gods plans changed?
If you read Genesis over pretty well (look closely at Genesis 2:15) there is no mention or even a hint that God had promised Adam he would live in heaven at any point. His purpose was to live on the earth and cultivate the garden Jehovah had created. Yes, things changed after he sinned but, does this mean Gods plans changed?

"God is not a man that he should tell lies,
Neither a son of mankind that he should feel regret.
Has he himself said it and will he not do it,
And has he spoken and will he not carry it out?"
-Numbers 23:19

"so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it" -Isaiah 55:11

These scriptures show that God's plans do not fail. If he starts to do something it will have "certain success".

Death - - part of Gods plan?

Is it a fair assumption to say that God planned for humans to live on earth for a certain number of years, die, and then ascend to heaven? An examination of the scriptures shows results to the contrary.

"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned-" -Romans 5:12

"For the wages sin pays is death" -Romans 6:23

This is clear evidence that only after Adam sinned did death enter into the picture. Humans were meant to live forever on the earth doing the same job Adam had been assigned.

Do any go to heaven?

So we've taken a brief look into Gods plans for humankind which shows that God does not plan for man to live in heaven. But, are there some that will go to heaven? Yes. Indeed there are. In fact the Bible gives us the exact number of humans that will live in heaven.

"And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:" -Revelation 7:4

"And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. " Revelation 14:1

"And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth" -Revelation 14:3

These, and other, scriptures show that God has made a place for 144,000 faithful humans to go to heaven and rule as kings and priests at Jesus' side. it does not say that heaven is the destiny of all humanity.

So what happens to the rest of us?

So is that it? 144,000 go to heaven and the rest of us are done for? Not hardly. The Bible shows us that Jehovah has a wonderful prospect for all those that are faithful to him.

"But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace" -Psalms 37:11

"The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it" -Psalms 37:29

"Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth" -Matthew 5:5

The Bible is very clear as to Gods purpose for mankind. We are to live here on earth just as he planned in the beginning. Jesus himself showed us to pray for this in his prayer (Now known as "the lords prayer") when he said "Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth" (Matthew 6:10)

So after a look into the Bible, we come to realize that we are not destined for a heavenly life at all. I hope you found this article to be informative.

Jehovah Bless You

144,000 from the 12 tribes of Judah, God's "chosen people", Jewish: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim and Manasseh. These are "redeemed" Jewish individuals. It goes on to explain that Gentiles will come from all over and sit in heaven along with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who are already there. Also, Jesus will return and restore peace on the earth for 1000 years and live with the martyrs that died during the tribulation. These are the meek and righteous that will have inherited the earth. But at this point the "dead in Christ" will have already have risen. The 144,000 are the Jewish people that Jacob and Isaac are able to convert during the tribulation. The order of events during this time is debated, but not the fact that gentiles go to heaven. I don't understand how you could be a Jehovahs Wittness if you have read the bible.

If God created the earth, why do we all die and go to heaven. That's what most people should think about, it's like saying God just created the earth because he felt like it. You christians cusing Jehovah witnesses need to rememebr that as christians you need to love your nieghbour as yourself? Doesn't your bible teach that? If you feel so threatened by the truth then ask youself if your really in the right church learning the right things. The bible prophocies this anyway, you know how people will be blind to the truth and persecue you. Oh boo hoo you don't get to go to heaven, why would you want to if a beautiful paradise on earth is being made for you when armogeddon finishes. Saddos get lifes and stop being so immature.

The bible has NEVER said man will go to heaven

    John :13 King James

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

    NIV

No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from he

Not one of the people claiming the Jehovahs Wittness' are a cult or wrong or cheats your souls used a scripture to back up what they said.
I would love for someone to show us all viewing this site where exactly in the bible it says that all people that are good will go to heaven. I also have a King James Version that I use. Our bible is not altered.
By the way..."Hallelujah" when translated: In the Hebrew Bible "hallelujah" is actually a two-word phrase, not one word. The first part, hallelu, is the second person imperative masculine plural form of the Hebrew verb hallal.[2] However, "hallelujah" means more than simply "praise YHWH", as the word hallel in Hebrew means a joyous praise, to boast in God, or to act madly or foolishly.[3]

The second part, Yah, is a shortened form of the name of God YHWH, sometimes rendered in English as "Yahweh" or "Jehovah".

We do not slam against other religion. Our mission just as other christians is to get the word of god out and make his na

To No_evil_cult: No one has cheated your soul. But if you dont want to cheat yourself, why not begin a study of scripture and try to get more knowledge. I know there are a lot of things in the scriptures that would help your understanding and insure your life. And I think a study with the JW's would increase your knowledge of such subjects as death, ressurection, heaven, soul, spirit, etc. There is a tremendous amount of things to learn before spouting off in a demeaning way. I certainly want to encourage you to acquire knowledge about the true God, because it is fundamental to everlasting life. Take care.

jehovah witnesses are bad, 144,000 are not going to heaven, the 144,000 are the people of the 12 tribes, but after it says all the tribes it says and lo there is a great multitude of many nations, countless numbers , so theres more then 144,000 way more..

Obviously, you do not have the same Bible that I do. My Bible does not say that everyone goes to heaven. Read Ephesians 2:8-9

  • Chris2/12/2007

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.

  • Heather B.2/8/2007

They do not say only 144,000 go to Heaven. All good people go to Heaven when they die. After the final battle, they believe that the Earth will be made a paradise again. Everyone will then go back to Earth to live in paradise, as in Eden. Now, the number 144,000 is controversial. Some say the 144,000 will remain in Heaven after that point to rule with God; some interpret it to mean that they, too, will go to Earth with all of the other humans, but be kings among men to rule the new purified world. Read the JW Bible before you accuse them of saying something. I've actually read the passage myself, and it does NOT say only 144,000 go to Heaven. Read it.
