Gold for the Calf

Gold for the Calf

It can't happen here...

Frank Zappa was always a genius

My mind twists in the wind--
Wisps of reality
mingling with fragile fantasies

A cacophony winding 'round
keening cries of the hungry
politicians at the podium
painted lips chirping inanities
in themes of Paris Hilton
American Idol and that lot

When did the compass move?

My own oily wants shift
with endless commercials--
today's latest gadgets in vivid technicolor

Moral fiber entrenched in material
Inanimate things now the gods
and all the while
slicking over a stench--
a cesspool on a sultry day

(Republished from my original published on wdc June 13, 2007. Sadly, just as appropriate today though there is always hope.)

Marvelous, Char. Your mind works in mysterious and wondrous ways.
