Rue McClanahan known as Blanche on the Golden Girls series recently died on June 2, 2010. She was approximately 76 years of age. She died from a brain hemorrhage. She was at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital based in New York City.
She had survived through breast cancer over the years of her wonderful life. She survived through open heart surgery during her life. She went through knee surgery as well during her life. The Golden Girl series ended in 1992, but many people enjoyed watching the reruns on TV of the show.
Rue had won some awards over the years. She had played roles in other movies. Rue McClanahan published a memoir during her lifetime called "My First Five Husbands ... And the Ones Who Got Away." . Rue had been married six times during her life.
She appeared in Broadways "Wizard of Oz". She won an obie around 1970 for "Who's Happy Now". She also appeared in "Out to Sea" and "Starship Troopers". She played a role in "Wicked" and comedy "Sordid Lives: The Series". Another show Ms. McClanahn appeared in is "All in the Family" sometime in 1971.
It took a long time to get the Golden Girls available on DVD. There was a high in demand request from fans all over the world that got Golden Girls onto DVD. You find the complete Golden Girl series on DVD. You can find them on Amazon online anywhere from the first season all the way through to the final season. You have to buy them one season at a time since they couldn't put all of the series into one DVD, but make sure to buy the Golden Girls on DVD to bring you great laughs all over again. There is seven series in the Golden Girls DVDs.
