Golden Globe Nominations 2010 Announced
HBO, Up in the Air, Avatar Are Among Those with the Most Golden Globe Nominations
The nominees were announced by Justin Timberlake, John Krasinksi, and Diane Kruger this morning at 5:00 am at the Beverly Hilton. It was an exciting morning for all that will be involved in the awards ceremony.
Avatar has been nominated for Best Motion Picture - Drama. Avatar has gained a lot of popularity over the past couple of months. The movie, directed by James Cameron, is expected to be something along the lines of "the future of movies." Previously, Cameron was best known for Titanic, but the visual effects of Titanic are well eclipsed by that of Avatar. James Cameron has also been nominated for Best Director- Motion Picture for his role in Avatar.
Disney's The Princess and the Frog is also up for the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film. The Princess and the Frog is also gaining a lot of popularity, as it is the first African-American Disney film. Considering Disney's rich history, this is a very big first for the company.
Dexter, which just ended its 4th season with the ultimate cliffhanger has been nominated for the Golden Globe - Best Television Series (Drama). After the season's ending, many are very, very anxious for the 5th season of the show to begin. There will be a huge change in landscape as one of the main characters will no longer be in the series. Michael C. Hall has also been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama for his role as Dexter Morgan.
Among other nominations that I am personally excited about are Jeremy Piven's Golden Globe nomination for his role as Ari Gold in "Entourage". Piven is a very vivacious and exciting character.
Out of all the TV networks, HBO walked away with the most Golden Globe 2010 nominations. They have 17, where the next highest TV network has 6. George Clooney's Up in the Air walked away with 6 nominations, compared to Nine's 5 and Avatar's 4 nominations.
