Golden Princess

eldadeedlit
Nails like pearls and she's perfect
A beam of glowing golden,
grades and a fair face.
The boys clamor for her attention.
"Because she's so damn perky," a bitter girl
remarks.

Poor Princess
They say mockingly when
she comes to class one day,
Her arms dangling limply at her sides
and her eyes hollow and dark
Like the eyes of a Ritalin child

or a corpse.

Dirty nails now and
Poor Princess
They say tearily
when her carcass is found,
abandoned.

cut up, destroyed
from the inside,
from its dead soul.

Poor Princess, they
laugh,
as they adorn her
cadaver with gold.
