Crate training your golden retriever isn't a bad thing as many people would consider it. As a matter of fact, crate training your dog will not only help it to stay safe, but will also keeps it away from messing your home. For instance, if you are not at home and your golden retriever is alone, then this crate will help your dog find his food easily and sleep peacefully. So here are some simple ways to crate train your golden retriever.

At the point of reading this article you might already possess a crate ready for your golden retriever. So the fist thing you can do is find a place, where you can keep the dog crate without it being a barrier for others to move around in your house. Inspect the place and make sure that its not a place where your golden retriever is going to feel lonely and away from the rest of the family members. Also note that there are no objects that might harm your dog in any way.

The best place to keep the crate is the front yard, as keeping it there would allow your golden retriever to relieve itself without creating a mess in your house. By putting a dog biscuit or a toy within the crate, you allow the dog to explore the crate and adapt itself to its new home. Repeat this everyday, until your golden retriever puppy gets used to the create.

While crate training your golden retriever puppy, make sure you praise your puppy when he/she obeys your commands. If he gets used to staying in the crate, try closing the door and let your puppy stay there for a while. I know it's hard for people to see their puppy whining, but try to talk to your golden retriever puppy and play with it from outside. A small toy or a piece of dog biscuit should be good enough to accomplish this task.

Remember, that just like everything else, crate training your puppy will also take time. Don't expect your puppy to love the crate overnight. Also see that the crate is spacious and simulates a den like environment or else your puppy might feel sick in a while. The crate should only be used for five to six hours, if your golden retriever is an adult.
Last but not the least, try to interact with your puppy quite often and keep the doors of the crate open if your golden retriever puppy is full trained.
