When you go, the original is at 51st and Lewis, at the far end of Tulsa's Brookside area, close to the Arkansas River. I'm still sure this is the best one, with a charcoal broiler for the burgers that you can smell for miles. Which, when you have the craving for a homemade burger, will really make your mouth water. There are other locations throughout Tulsa and the surrounding towns, but you need to visit the original to get the full experience.
Also, the walls include photos, stories, and general information about the city of Tulsa. That way, as you enjoy a superb meal, you can learn about the town's history. When you see some of the famous people of both Tulsa and Oklahoma in general, we include everyone from Native Americans to African Americans, Spanish to White. There's a mixture of almost every nationality and religion that live in Tulsa, and most of it is depicted on the walls of Goldie's. Politicians to comedians, athletes to doctors, Tulsa has a rich history portrayed.
As a side note, a young lady I took to eat there ate her burger with a knife and fork. Luckily, they let us stay, but I must say that was a first for me. I've also taken other dates there as well, since it is an inexpensive sit down restaurant. If you live on a fixed income, this place is great for a first date.
I highly recommend the Goldie's Special with cheese and bacon, which runs around six dollars. I've always enjoyed this dish, and the fries are great. Plus, they have specials for all types, including their classic regular burger, with all the fixings on the side. That way, you can use whichever ones you want, and create the perfect burger. Also try their cheese fries, which most of my friends enjoy.
If you are ever in Tulsa, and looking for a family friendly eatery, take them to Goldie's. When you do, don't forget to visit their pickle bar, which houses everything from sweet to dill, plus some peppers for flavor.
