I work at a 9 hole executive course called Wilson Road Golf Course. It is adjacent to Raymond Memorial Golf Course, a regulation 18 hole layout. They are both part of the Columbus City Golf Course network featuring 7 golf courses within minutes of downtown Columbus. These courses are operated by PGA Professionals and offer some of the best deals in the area with a wide variety of designs and lay-outs. While many of these city courses receive a fair amount of play during the year, there are dozens more courses just waining to be played offering many styles of design, challenge and affordability such as Fox Fire, Phoenix and not to mention some of the most exclusive Country Clubs in the area. Murfield Village, a Jack Nicklaus designed course hosts The PGA's Memorial Tournament each Summer, Scioto Country Club and Columbus Country Club offer the classic golf experience you would expect form a mature, well maintained course. New clubs such as New Albany and Double Eagle are modern designs that feature the very best in service, experience and atmosphere.
Columbus also features many driving rangers throughout the city which many are accessible during the winter months due to their covered and heated range. The Golf Dome is just that, a huge dome in which rabid players can play in the worst of conditions at room temperature! From here the local and out of town player can take advantage of some of the world class golf instruction by many PGA Professionals as well as have their clubs repaired or assembled by their local Pro or Club Maker.
The city itself has much do with the game outside the courses themselves. From dozens of golf retail shops, golf themed bars and restaurants and the Jack Nicklaus Museum, Columbus is truly a great golfing destination for the avid golf enthusiast.
Which ever you choose, weather it be one of the many fine public courses, driving ranges, or if you are looking for a new Club to call home, Columbus, Ohio has more than enough choices to satisfy every golfers taste.
Plan a trip, stay a few days and experience some of the best golf in a place you would least expect it!
