Golf Clubs: Yonex Cyberstart CT 460 Driver Review

MikeBabjak
Yonex has been making golf equipment for many, many years now and the one thing that they have always been able to do well is create innovative new golf clubs that push the limits of technology and design. From their push for graphite shafts in irons, composite heads, to today's 460cc drivers, Yonex continues to deliver the goods while maintaining a respectable American following.

The NEW Cyberstar CT Driver incorporates many features that make the larger drivers of today launch the ball a mile! A 460cc head featuring both Titanium and Carbon Fibers make this driver the ultimate launching machine. With the stronger Titanium positioned for maximum weight distribution and the carbon crown further lowering the center of gravity and allowing for more perimeter weighting, the Cyberstart CT is not only long, but very, very accurate! If that were not enough, there is a strategically placed tungsten weight for further perimeter weighting!

This is the first time in a long time that I have hit a Yonex driver that I really, really, really liked. Typically I found them to be very lightweight and a little hard to feel the club head throughout the swing. The Cyberstart CT is very light, don't get me wrong, but also maintains a solid feel throughout the swing. It was a little long in the shaft for me, but I always maintain that a driver should be no more than 44.5" long to begin with.

When I hit the ball with this club the first thing I noticed was the great feel that came off the face. It hit the ball very high (used a 9.5*) and very hot. It was a good 5 yards longer than my Titleist 907 D2 driver and that extra distance seemed to come from the extra carry, which works great for today's low spinning golf balls. Working the ball was fairly easy, however it did not want to fade too much for me no matter what swing I put on it. This is not a deal breaker, especially for the amateur who hits the ball out to the right.

Overall this is a solid club from a solid golf company. I would suggest you give it a try. You may not see them on tour too often anymore, but Yonex still knows how to make a very good golf club! Stay tuned for more reviews and thoughts on all the new golf equipment for this Summer!
