A Guide for Golfers

The Adirondacks region of New York is a popular place for families and singles alike to kick back and enjoy great scenery. Resorts, lodges, camp grounds and everything else you can imagine for a great vacation are found in the Adirondacks, including fantastic golf courses.

The 1000 Acres Golf Club is just one example of what the Adirondacks region has to offer, and is located in beautiful Stony Creek, New York. Settled on a resort that offers many different activities, the golf course is open to the public and costs around $25 in green fees. If you'd like to make a vacation of it, you can book a cottage on the resort and spend a week or two communing with nature - in between golf rounds, that is.

The Craig Wood Golf Club is another popular golf course in the Adirondacks, settled in the center of Lake Placid, New York. First established in 1925, this course has great historical significance and has changed little over the last eighty years. It has been home to numerous tournaments, including the Masters U.S. Open in 1941. After your round of golf, you can cool down in the cocktail lounge or enjoy a bite at their on-site restaurant.

Lastly, the Westport Country Club in Westport, New York, is one of the oldest golf courses in the Adirondacks region. The recipient of numerous awards, this facility has 18 holes of challenging links and the famous Twelfth Hole, which winds sinuously downhill through a maze of beautiful Adirondack pines.
