Golf Courses in the Catskills Region of New York

A Guide for Golfers

Steve Thompson
The Catskills region of New York is known for beautiful mountains, lush vegetation and peaceful waters, but did you know that there is also a vast selection of golf courses? Aficionados of all levels and interests can convene among other like-minded souls for a day on the links, sometimes for less money than you would imagine.

The Stone Dock Golf Club, for example, charges $36 for 18 holes with a cart on the weekends, and is located in beautiful High Falls, New York. Enjoy everything the Catskills has to offer, including scenic ponds flanked by enormous boulders and huge pine and oak trees that cast intermittent shade. Afterward, you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat at the exclusive Tap In Pub.

If you're looking for something slightly more exotic in the Catskills, however, head to Rip Van Winkle Golf Club in Palenville, New York. They have a banquet facility, a restaurant and bar, and a pro shop for all of your golfing needs. The golf course itself is a 9-hole layout with options for 18, and is overseen by golf pro John L. Smith. And if you want to save a buck, hit the links after 4pm for a discounted $12 green fee on weekends.

Other golf courses in the Catskills region of New York include Katsban Golf Club in Saugerties, Ascot Park in Kingston, and Dinsmore Golf Club in Staatsburg. You won't find any shortage of links in this area of the country, and most of the courses are fairly reasonable in price and in amenities.
