Top of the list is Mallard Creek Golf Course. The course is a picture of beauty, nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range. It is an 18 hole course. The holes are lined by tall fir trees and there are water hazards in the form of creeks and ponds. The course has hosted several national tournaments over the years so you know it is of the highest quality. Memberships are available but it is a public course. Green fees are a low $40 per golfer with cart rental extra. There is a driving range, pro shop, restaurant and bar. Other amenities include an RV park for traveling golfers. The course is surrounded by large open spaces and ranches. They host several tournaments throughout the golf season. The minuses for this course is that it is located in a snow area during the winter. For more information visit their website at Mallard Creek.
Next on the list is Pineway Golf Course located just outside of Lebanon City limits, just off of highway 20. Pineway is a public course that is a step or two down from the quality of Mallard Creek. Built on hilly terrain it is a 9 hole course. The course is surrounded by homes on small acreage lots. The green fees are cheaper than Mallard Creek but keep in mind that it is only a 9 hole course. The course is not kept up as much as it should be. Many of the golfers that play there don't take as much pride in the course and don't replace their divots, leave trash on the course and generally use and abuse it.
The last one on my list is Trysting Tree Golf Course located in Corvallis, Oregon. Trysting Tree is located on the east bank of the Willamette River just off of highway 34. The golf course is also home to the Oregon State University rowing team, which has a dock next to the river where they launch their boats and practice. The course is laid out like a links course with minimal trees. The course is well taken care of and golfers travel across the state to play there. The course is rated 9th best public golf course in Oregon by Golf Digest. The green fee is $37 not including cart. The only minus for this course is that it is located in the flood plain of the Willamette River and it does shut down at least once a year due to high water covering part of the golf course. For more information visit their website at Trysting Tree.
There you have it, a quick run down of the golf courses that my husband has played on in the past 2 years. His is a member of Mallard Creek men's club and that is his home course at which he plays several times a week.
