Gone Away I

C. L. Collins
Nothing else matters, I lie awake among darkness.

It is somber and serene, only the moonlight senses life.

I perceive the unknown; fear overwhelms me.

Oh Lord, my merciful master; it is hopeless, the pain wins.

I wish I knew this impending destiny of sorrow.

The solution is to sleep; never be awakened.

I guess I should lie alone until fewer angels depart.

Oh Lord; tell me what is here, what is there.

Nobody seems to care,

Everyone seems to stare.

Lord, my master, will I survive or wither away?

Will sorrow fixate upon my soul forever?

Send me a sign, a token to believe the serene of this night.

Recognize me for what is to be, to live and fight.

If endurance isn't to be, thus I perish, let me never wake,

Blind my eyes so I don't witness the shame and pity,

Deceive my soul; soften the pain of what I have lost,

The twilight has dimmed; I have departed.
