Gone Too Far by Suzanne Brockmann - Book Review

Denise
Lt. Sam Starrett is a professional at his career, but when it comes to his personal life, he just does everything completely wrong. He's a player. The only reason why he got married was because he got his wife pregnant. That relationship did not work. Sam is really in love with someone else. He's about to get a divorce and wonders why he hasn't heard back from his soon-to-be-ex wife Mary Lou. So he drives down to her house and finds a horrific discovery. A woman's body, brutally murdered on the floor and his daughter is gone.

Enter, the heroine. FBI agent Alyssa Locke, who has a very volatile relationship with Sam. It is one that will not end. Her assignment is to lead this murder investigation which brings her together with him again. She tries very hard to fight her attraction to him, while Sam becomes more open with her, and purposely sizzles things up. The case is a very difficult one, and suddenly they are on the opposite side of the law and on the run trying to get to the truth and find his daughter.

I am now a Suzanne Brockmann fan. I normally do not read stories about Navy Seals and such, but I just could not resist this one. The romance is sizzling. Sam's background story of his family is awesome as you get to the end of it, to understand who he is and why he acts the way he does. There are other secondary stories of characters, which as just as good. You truly know why she is a bestselling author as you read. The only downer for me is the excessive swearing Sam does. That's just his character, but, as you read this(you have to) it began when he was just a kid. Alyssa has trust issues, which she reveals later on in the story about why she does. In one part of the story, she asks Sam to trust her, which he doesn't. That scene, they are fighting-I mean really fighting, and Alyssa is kicks his butt big time!

I truly have enjoyed this book. The main story and secondary stories of other interesting , humorous and truly believable characters. Suzanne Brockmann knows how to weave the stories smoothly, and she writes humor and suspense with excellence. This is the sixth book in the Troubleshooters series. Reading this, has me finding Brockmann's other books about when Sam and Alyssa first met.
