Gone with the Wind 70th Anniversary Limited Box Set Collection on Blu-Ray

Gone with the Wind is, was, and always will be my favorite movie. I am unsure of how many times I have seen Gone With the Wind over the past twenty years but I can remember much of the dialogue without prompts. I first saw the movie as a twelve year old and was fascinated by how the South was depicted during the Civil War. Scarlett and Rhett's love affair was an interesting part for me as well since that was the year I discovered boys. Yesterday, I was watching The Time Traveler's Wife and an advertisement for the Gone With the Wind 70th anniversary box set was on the DVD. My husband was in the room and he groaned giving me the look like I was insane for wanting the collection. Several years ago, he purchased a special DVD for me containing the same movie but this looked special-limited edition, books included, even some copies of telegrams sent from the producer before and after production was underway.

The Gone With the Wind 70th anniversary set comes in a very nice box made of velvety material. On the lower left corner there is a sticker saying what number it is of the limited edition (mine is 26,797 of 150,000). When the box is opened, there is a photograph of Scarlett in front of Tara.

There are three DVDs. One DVD is of the movie. The second DVD is a six hour documentary called MGM: When the Lion Roars. A third DVD contains eight hours of extras including the Warner Brothers documentary 1939: Hollywood's Greatest Year, Gone With the Wind: The Legend Lives On, and Moviola: The Scarlett O'Hara War.

Also included in the collection is a fifty-two page photo and production art book, a set of ten 5"7 watercolor art prints, archival correspondence from the producer, David O. Selznick, a reproduction of the 1939 original program, and a bonus CD soundtrack consisting of music from the main title, Tara, The Barbeque, Escape from Atlanta, I'll never be hungry again!, Paddock scene, Scarlett in the mist/Rhett leaves, Flashback/Finale.

The Gone With the Wind 70th Anniversary set is currently available on amazon.com. The lowest new prices are about $49.65 and the used ones are about $44.98. Retail at Barnes and Noble in Jonesboro is $84.00.

Cool. Glad you let me know. We don't have a Blu Ray player, either, though.

We don't own a Blu-Ray but if we did, Gone With The Wind is one of the first movies we would purchase! Cheers.
