Gonzales - Smoke Screen?

While Declaring Guilt in One Area, Other Critical Areas Are Ignored, Its Called Misdirection

Ask yourself the obvious question, some lawyers got fired from their government jobs, if that firing was a bad deal, do you think they will sue? The man who was supposedly in charge of that process has said that he was in fact in charge of that process? Does anybody find that a bit odd?

In the movie "Presidio" which starred Sean Connery among others, the hiding of diamonds took place, right in plain sight, but in a place where they wouldn't show. Hiding things in plain sight has long been a tactic of someone wanting to make their being observed so obvious that often they are overlooked, like car keys you lay down but can't find again...only to tour the house, and return to where you laid them, and there they are, in plain sight.

Whatever it is that is causing grumblings up on the hill, we know for sure what happened with Attorney General Gonzales, he fired those lawyers, and he did it in plain sight. Are the lawyers who were dismissed going to become known as the 807? Probably not, because with the exception of family and responsibilities which might lie in another direction, what will happen to them seems largely a matter of course. So this news story has been out for three weeks or longer, but now the smoke is getting thicker, this can mean many things. What we know it means for certain is that something has taken place that stirs interest in the media, some lawyers got fired?

Attorney General Gonzales has lapses in memory when questioned about things, "Seventy-one times Gonzales claimed a faulty memory when members of the Senate committee asked such questions as who decided on the ousted eight, and whether Gonzales was or was not involved in the evaluation process." [MSNBC] This is inexcusable according to Senator Arlen Specter who said that it may be time for Gonzales to consider stepping down.

This raises the question of whether much is being put into the wind at a convenient time- magicians use misdirection all the time, is it possible that we are watching misdirection through the deliberate manipulation of the political arena? Would that be a monumental abuse of power? Where would such an abuse have to have its logical origins at? Let's agree that it's probably not some light weight lieutenant in a basement office who is running this one...

Smoke screens and misdirection are sometimes just the imagination of the people who perceive the act, but when a man as intelligent as this man is, forgets facts that he ought to be familiar with, more than once or twice, it is hard to believe that is natural. If Senator Specter sees this as being a tenuous circumstance, then we can take that as a wake up call, or we can remain under the smoke, wouldn't it be good to get some clean fresh air in here? Haven't we had enough of jaded politics? Can we ask our leaders this time, to please, give us the respect of being your followers, and quit trying to put us into a state of not knowing what we are looking at- an attorney general, former Supreme Court justice of Texas, a learned man, or a man with no capable recall of facts.
