Goo Goo Dolls: Giving Up Something for the Rest of Us

Goo Goo Dolls Tour Still Going Strong for Fall 2010

Back in 1987, reports AZ Central.com, the Goo Goo Dolls made a name with free-spirited, punk rock abandon. Times changed, they each found their sound, and music started flowing a bit more smoothly.

In the style of other groups from that era, their steady base of fans, and a growing number of new fans, make the Goo Goo Dolls a successful concert. They stepped out in style on August 28 in Phoenix, highlighting their upcoming album, Something for the rest of us," which releases August 31st.

Guitarast and vocalist Johnny Rzeznik explained the new album centers around the disillusionment people are facing today. Losing homes and jobs, living with the results of at least two wars, not quite sure at all what the next minute will bring, has caused a reflection on their purpose in life, as it has changed from that of the past. Overall, this has led to disillusionment.

Rzeznik and bassist Robby Takac have been playing together for nearly 25 years. They have placed the first years of music into a memory, more or less recognizing that there are songs for the times, and then, there are songs forever. The last umpteen years, they have been focusing on the forever aspect. The furthest back they want to go when doing shows is playing songs from "Superstar Carwash."

Name and Iris, two big rock hits, surprised Goo Goo Dolls with their success. If you weren't born yet, or don't quite remember the music, visit their official website here to watch the video and hear the sound.
