Good Bye Gilmore Girls, I'll Miss You

Gilmore Girls Final Episode

Veronica
When Emily Gilmore said to Rory "It is an honor to be your grandmother", I cried. It was so touching and heartfelt. Not long before that, Richard made a similar comment to his daughter, Lorelei. He told her she was a remarkable person. What a wonderful ending for a wonderful show. I loved that everyone was finally sharing their feeling. So much talking goes on in this show, but the struggle is always for the people in Lorelei's life to say what the mean, what they feel. For all of Lorelei's up front, non stop, fast talking, lay it all on the table personality; she and her family are pretty reserved in terms of sharing feelings with each other.

The final episode of Gilmore Girls ended well. There were no shocking changes, no cliff hangers, thank goodness. Everything fell into place as expected. Rory had already broken it off with Logan, which was a good thing. He went from party loving frat boy fighting with his rich father, to successful let's buy a house and get married guy, way too quick. He'll be fat and bald in five years. Rory doesn't need that after all of her hard work and with her dream of a journalism career. Besides, she looks like she's fifteen, how can she possibly entertain marriage? Lorelei and Luke got back together at the end. She found out that it was Luke who had planned the party and so, that is how he shared his feelings with her. That was the sign she was waiting for. Didn't we all want Lorelei and Luke to work it out?

I'll miss the town of Stars Hollow and those quirky characters. In the seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, these locals brought depth and humor to the show. They were like the background singer in a good band. You don't have to know their names or personal life's to know that they round it all out, make an idea in to an actual story.

My only misgiving about this last episode was that some of the most important characters were missing for the final goodbye. Where was Paris? If anyone needed to send Rory off on the quest to become Christian Amanpour, it should have been Paris. Where was Michele? I needed to hear that crazy accent one more time. And where was Christopher? I find Christopher annoying so I can't say I missed him, but he is Rory's father.

What I was really waiting for though, was the return of Jesse (Milo Ventimiglia). I've been waiting for him every episode, hoping he would return and give Rory that longing, thoughtful smile of his? Maybe the WB will do a reunion show in a couple of years and Jesse; a famous author will bump in to Rory, the journalist at some writing workshop. There eyes will lock. Now wouldn't that be an episode?
