Good Bye to Real World Las Vegas 2011

Thanks and You Were Real

Bridgitte Williams
I have been a MTV Real World reality television show fan since the very first episode. That happened a long time ago. The twenty-fifth season of the Real World Las Vegas show filmed at the Hard Rock hotel and it just wrapped up it's last episode, the finale and I am a bit teary eyed. Yes, I know it is long over, but for us viewers, it just ended tonight. Here are my thoughts.

I want to give thanks to the cast. They were always real and that is what this show is and has always been about. The realness, the reality, of strangers living in a place, learning about one another and trying to get along. Thanks, Leroy, Dustin, Adam, Mike, Nany, Heather, Naomi and Cooke. What a real season. Through all of the problems, you all still had fun. The Let Kids Rock Las Vegas Charity for support of young musicians was spectacular. I will always remember the guitar that was hand painted by Dustin and Heather. Great job, guys and to buy it back, Dustin, was so touching. Bravo!

From the trip to Mexico to the drama of all discovering that Dustin was an internet porn star, this show has it's fill of shocking moments. The volatile love relationship between Nany and Adam was memorable, scary, and had it's learning moments, that is for sure. Abuse and over doing alcohol will always end badly. Especially if you have unhealed deep issues. This show addressed that and all learned from the experience, I must say. Whew.

The season finale ends with a fake Las Vegas marriage between Mike and Naomi. Well. Wow! That was so cool. Naomi wanted to have a Vegas marriage and Mike stepped up to make her dreams come true. Sort of. Aw, heck, it was beautiful. What friendship. Speaking of friendship, Mike and Leroy formed a good one. When Leroy lost a dear friend to violence, Mike was there. I think Heather and Dustin formed a similar bond. Time will tell. One thing that I can say, these folks were real. With their talents, their problems, their secrets, their demons and their kindness. This season was startling, shocking, fun and entertaining. Who could ask more from a reality television show?

Thanks to MTV for another real season of Real World. Whenever you ask why we do this, if you do, it is for us. Those that learn and grow from the real experiences of total strangers living in a space together for a few months. Brilliant, blessed, touching, scary and memorable. That is this show. We are watching. You know this. The value of friendship is truly priceless. You show that to us, time and time again. Bravo!
