Good DS Accesories for 2009

What Extras You Should Give as Gifts

Paige Nieto
A Nintendo DS is always a good gift to get almost anyone in your life (I myself have one courtesy of Christmas last year from my husband and son). However your DS gift giving doesn't just end at the system or games; there are many other things you can give someone to help enhance their DS use. Here are just a couple of suggestions.

Carrying Case-this is a something that will help the younger ones keep up not only with their DS system but games as well (there is usually a pouch where you can usually store a couple of games so you don't have to carry the bulky game cases). You can also get a case in many different styles such as ones that look like mini-backpacks or purses or even in folio style. Whatever you pick, when it comes to DS accessories this item should type your list.

Invisi-Shield and Cleaning Cloth-since with some games on the DS you tap the screen one may begin to worry about the wear and tear it will begin to have on the system. With the shield the person you give this to can protect the actual screen and the cleaning cloth helps to maintain the "new" look of the system. This something that every DS owner would want under their Christmas tree.

Styluses-now I know what you're thinking; doesn't the DS come with this? Yes it does but extra ones are always handy (especially with little ones for who it is easy to lose such a small thing). Plus you can get them in fun and different styles such as a light saber for a Star Wars game (or just because) or ones that look like pens. Whatever you choose to give, trust that extra styluses are something that any DS owner would love to have.

Pelican Accessories Travel Pack-this handy little pack works not only with DS and DS Lite but also Game Boy Advance and comes with a car charger, USB port, and a LED light all that help the DS owner play while on the road. The car charger is probably what will get used the most with the younger players as it can be plugged in and is long enough to reach the back where they will be riding.

Turtle Beach Headphones-now this is a gift for parents as well as kids because it keeps the noises of the games to the player only. It even has a headset for games that require voice commands making it easier for the player so they don't have to speak into the small microphone that is on the game system. This one is also ideal for road trips since the player doesn't have to worry about interference with radio and talking messing with his game play if it requires them talking and the other passengers aren't annoyed by game sounds. Everyone wins!! This comes in three colors so you have options to choose from.

Datel Action Replay-speaking of everyone winning, this handy little device would also be a good gift for any gamer. It comes with cheats for tons of popular DS games as well as a USB port so you can download cheats for new games that come out. While some people don't like the idea of cheat codes, sometimes it helps to get pass difficult parts or to unlock bonus stuff that you might not be able to access otherwise. Besides, every now and then everyone wants to cheat on a game and with video games you're (usually) not playing against another person so what's the harm? This will be a gift that they will enjoy as well.
This list should get you started on ideas for what to give any DS owner you may know. Happy shopping!!
