Grandma Dorothy's Apple Crisp
4 - 5 apples, peeled and sliced into a baking dish
Mix together:
1 cup brown sugar
¾ cup instant oatmeal
½ cup flour
1 stick (1/2 cup) softened margarine
Spread over top of apples and bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 40 minutes or until apples are done. Serve warm with vanilla ice-cream, if desired.
Quick Apple Cake
¼ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups peeled and chopped apples
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
Cream butter and sugar together, stir in egg. Sift dry ingredients together into a bowl. Add wet mixture and stir. Mix in apple and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
