Good and Evil Battle it Out on the Golden Globes Red Carpet

It was as if good and evil, light and dark, innocence and lust were in a battle for our fashion hearts at the 2011 Golden Globe awards when Natalie Portman's dress walked the same red carpet as Helena Bonham Carter's.

Portman looked the picture of expectant bliss in her strapless floor-length pink silk Victor and Rolf gown, a red rose emblazoned across the front, a sign of love that she seems to have found with her choreographer mate Benjamin Millepied. Her baby bump was comfortably visible and added to the glow that emanated from her head to toe. Her dress looked as soft as a baby blanket and made onlookers hopeful that she will give birth to a baby girl who is as precious as she looks. She will make a lovely mother.

Bonham-Carter seemed to need a mother as she showed up in two different colored shoes in what can best be described as something one would wear to Lolapaooza. Her side-sweeping, calf-length black floral print Vivienne Westwood gown appeared to be stained with the blood of the innocent and gave her a pall of evil that was accentuated by the Ozzie Osborne sunglasses that hardly protected her from the flashes of papparazi. Completely overshadowing her sweet personality and beautiful face was a black veil that made it seem as if she was mourning her lost fashion sense.

If good and evil battled on the red carpet, good won out. But inside evil reigned in Ricky Gervais' performance as host. But that's another story.
