Good Morning America Interviews Steven Curtis Chapman

Steven Curtis Chapman lost his beloved five-year-old daughter Marie Sue after his 17-year-old son accidentally hit her in their driveway after driving his SUV. Marie Sue later died at the Nashville Hospital. The Chapman's gave an exclusive interview on "Good Morning America" in their Tennessee home. The Chapman's discussed the tragic accident, their faith and about the families faith, as reported by ABC News.

Steven Curtis Chapman is best known for his award winning gospel music making a name for himself and his family. Steven Curtis Chapman's world was turned upside down on May 21, 2008 when his daughter Marie Sue had suddenly died from this horrific accident.

May 21st is also a day that I will never forget. My son Gaje Florence was killed on the 19th of May in 2007 and on May 21, 2007 it was the last time that I would see him before he was laid in the ground. Gaje was killed in a similar instance as the Chapman's daughter; he was killed in our driveway after a lady ran over him. The difference between the Chapman's daughter and our son is that we have a complete stranger to blame and the Chapman's must find it in their heart to not blame their son.

Good Morning America has helped many to understand what the family has gone through during a time like this. It takes a lot of time and a lot of healing. It has been a little over a year since Gaje died and I can still hear the pitter patter of little footsteps coming down the hall.

Steven Curtis Chapman and his family will never be the same and Good Morning America was a way for them to get some comfort from people around them. My husband and I did interviews also and it was a good feeling to get to talk about Gaje without being judged for that time. Good Morning Americahas helped me to realize that Steven Curtis Chapman and his family are just like any other family who has lost a child.

Losing a child is hard and I know this from first hand experience and I am asked all the time when I will stop going through the mourning process but I can't answer. There are good days and there are bad days but there isn't a day that I don't think about our son and I could imagine that the Chapman's are the same.

I had not heard of the Chapman family until I saw them on the Larry King Live Show, and my heart went out to them. Then I read this well written article and learned about another family, as well as the Chapman's, who went thru the same thing. God Bless both of them, and also the people who were involved in the accident.
