Good Music Makes a Movie. Who Would I Choose? Find Out

Motion Picture Music

Eagle Storm
Music is an integral part of the motion picture industry. A good sound track can make or break a movie. You have all probably experienced the effects of music on your movie going experience, whether you knew it or not. Music is an extremely powerful tool for influencing audience emotions. Look at horror movies. No matter how well made the movie itself is, there is nothing that gives an audience the chills more than the haunted, chilling, eerie music that accompanies the poor, unaware victim of the serial killer down the hall to his demise.

I have produced small films before, and I have always been frustrated by how empty it seems without music. Unfortunately in the small films industry, having good music written for your film is all but impossible. However, if I was given the opportunity to have a score written for one of my films, and lucky enough to choose the composer, I would have no problem choosing John Williams. You have all heard his music, you probably know who he is, if not then you have not seen such movies as "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones", both of which were scored by Williams.

If you have seen one of the films i just mentioned, then you will probably be able to see why Mr. Williams would be my ideal choice for a composer. He continually writes beautiful, powerful and incredible music. I contend that without his mastery of music, and his contribution, neither "Star Wars", OR "Indiana Jones" would have been as successful. The power of his music continues to astound me, as well as his ability to adapt to fit the production. While Star Wars and Indiana Jones are both action adventure, Williams has also provided the music for pieces such as Fiddler on the Roof, when it was adapted to be a movie. He wrote the music that accompanied Joseph Donnelly, (Tom Cruise), in the film Far and Away, on his journey to America to start his own life. The same composer then went on to write the music that took us on a journey with a small boy as he tried to protect a lost alien from his own race, the music that transported us to an island where dinosaurs had been recreated, and told us the troubling story of those who were unjustly persecuted and often killed during the Holocaust.

I have often dreamed of making a movie about sacrifices made by soldiers in World War 2, and the music of John Williams would be the perfect addition to my movie. In fact, the movie would not be complete without exceptional music, and it is my belief that John Williams is the best of the best. I personally hope he continues to amaze us for many more years.
