Good News for Fans of All My Children and One Life to Live

Sunshine Wilson

Several months ago, soap opera fans were disappointed, to say the least, to hear that All My Children and One Life to Live were cancelled by ABC. The final episode of All My Children on ABC will be in September, while the finale of One Life to Live will be in January on ABC.

Many petitions were generated across the internet by soap opera fans in the hopes that ABC would change their mind. Fans also hoped that another network, perhaps one of the cable networks, would decide to pick up these two soap operas. But this was not to be and many soap opera fans had given up hope of seeing their shows continue.

But a few days ago, some good news for fans of All My Children and One Life to Live was announced!

A media production company, Prospect Park, has purchased the licensing rights to All My Children and One Life to Live!

After their final episodes on ABC, Prospect Park will be broadcasting the two long-running soap operas. But not on network TV. All My Children and One Live to Live will be offered to soap opera fans in an online format.

While it is thought that the continuing story lines of both soap operas will carry on when they go online, many questions remain for soap opera fans:

On what website will fans be able to access All My Children and One Life to Live?

Will these soap operas be free of charge for soap opera fans to watch?

Will all the cast members remain in their roles in the online version of the soap operas?

Will cast members be forced to take a cut in pay?

Will Prospect Park continue to use the same writers?

When will the first online episode be available for soap opera fans to watch?

Hopefully soap opera fans will have these questions and others answered by Prospect Park and ABC in the upcoming weeks.

While everyone seems to agree right now that this is good news for fans of All My Children and One Life to Live, only time will tell.

Well, I guess it's better than nothing, but I'm not a "sit in front of my computer to watch TV" person. This will be very uncomfortable for me. And I really don't see people like Susan Lucci agreeing to go on with this show as an online presentation. I'd like to see this whole show re-run from the beginning, though, that would be cool.
