Good Positions for Anal Intercourse

Dear Auntie
Anal sex positions need to allow the receiver to be comfortable, give good penetration access, and allow the person doing the penetrating to be comfortable (anal sex is a slow form of penetration, therefore taking longer). Many of the positions that you are familiar with are easily adapted for anal sex:

Doggy Style (Rear Entry)

This is the position that is most commonly associated with anal sex because of the easy access. It requires the person receiving penetration to be on hands and knees whilst the partner giving penetration is on their knees from behind.

This position can also be achieved with both people standing. You will find this easier to achieve if the receiving partner bends at the waist and rests their hands on some furniture or the wall for support.

The downside of this position is that it can be hard on the knees but using pillows can help this. Plus, you are not able to face your partner.

Knees On Chest

If this is your first experience with anal sex then this could be a starting position. The person being penetrated lies on their back and brings their legs up to their chest. In this position both partners are close to the ground which means less work and more relaxation. The partner giving penetration is able to rest their chest on the back of the receiver's thighs.

With this position you can stay close and whilst penetrating just rock back and forth. Or the partner on top can take the lead and use their hip and leg muscles for thrusting.

This can be a very intimate position.

Spooning Side By Side

This is not the easiest of anal sex positions. Both partners lie on their side. The person penetrating will face their partner's back and the receiving person will be facing away from their partner.

If you are affected by hip problems this particular position can be very comfortable.

You can always experiment with this position. If you are penetrating you may find it more comfortable to be lower down the bed than your partner. This way you will be in a prime position to lift up a leg or spread them apart.

The Receiving Partner On Top

If this is your first time as the receiver in anal sex then you may find it better to be 'on top'. This way you will have full control of the penetration. In fact the 'on top' position is also good for first time vaginal penetration.

The only difficulty with this is that some find it hard to relax their sphincter muscles whilst sitting up and this could cause pain.

When choosing a position for anal sex it is important that that the person receiving penetration is completely relaxed.

Great article! I was concerned about writing my own sex-related articles until I read this. I would like to read more of your work.
