Good Reasons to Delete Your MySpace Profile

Dawn Hawkins
MySpace has gone downhill for a long time now. There is a new look to it, but most users have left for the comforts of ease in FaceBook. Many of the people that left MySpace for FaceBook deleted their accounts when leaving. There are still thousands of profiles in MySpace left by users who no longer use the site and haven't for a long time. It isn't always wise to leave the profiles on the internet to be forgotten about. It is almost certain that someone will run across it at some point in time and see what you have there. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing, but it can cause problems in a number of ways.

Why you should consider deleting your MySpace profile:

Waste of Space- Keeping your MySpace profile when you never go there anymore is a waste of the MySpace server space. It makes no sense to waste their space if you no longer use the account. If you do still use it, then by all means keep the MySpace profile up and running. Otherwise, delete the account so that it frees up their space and takes that mark away from you internet fingerprint.

Job Seeking- If you left MySpace and haven't been back in a long while, you may have even forgotten that you have the account. Go to MySpace and delete it before you forget while you are out on the job search. Too many potential employers check for this type of information and you want to give the best possible impression that you can when you are seeking employment. There may not be anything on the site that you think could hurt your chances of getting the job, but why take the chance when you don't use the account anymore? Delete the MySpace account and be positive that it can't hurt your chances in your job search.

Love Interests- If you are seeking a new love interest and you have an old MySpace profile hanging out with the old love interest on it, it may not look good on you. You will be surprised what you can find when you search around the internet for someone. You don't want a new love interest to find information that was about an old love or possibly a completely different personality than what you have presented to them. Don't take any chances on a new love interest finding out things you don't want them to know by deleting your MySpace profile.

You can always Rebuild- If you decide to delete your MySpace account because you have realized that there is a slim chance that you will ever grace those boards again, you can always rebuild it later if you decide you want to go back. Getting rid of the entire profile gives you a chance to start from scratch. If you had a MySpace account, you were part of the social networking revolution that started an entirely new way to connect with one another. There is a high chance that you made some mistakes when you first started your MySpace account. You will now have a chance to restart your entire MySpace over again should you ever decide to go back to it.

These are just a few of the reasons that you should consider deleting your MySpace account from the internet. It is sometimes hard to let go of something that once meant a great deal to you and MySpace was probably part of what your internet fingerprint is. That account can cause you problems in the future and if you don't use it, there is really no good reason to keep it around. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of people who have left MySpace and deleted their accounts. Just look at your friends list to see how sparse it is now. That is because you are just now realizing what others did long ago. MySpace is not what it used to be and you may never go there again.
