I saw a young father;
Carrying his baby son;
In the folds of his arms;
He looked down at his child;
As the toddlers tiny hands;
Caressed his daddy's face;
This very young father;
With his tattoos and piercings;
Reminded me of another father;
Who lived a long time ago;
Held the infant Savior in his arms;
And loved him like his own;
A wonderful guardian;
Who protected and provided;
For Jesus and Mary;
Until the day he died;
Good Saint Joseph;
Who loved with a heart;
Full of faith and obedience;
To the will of omnipotent God;
The Father of all fathers;
One in whom centuries later;
Many fathers have tried to emulate;
To be loving husbands;
And kind and patient fathers;
Let us bow or heads;
And ask for God's blessings;
For fathers everywhere:
Dear God, the Father;
You have given the gift of fatherhood;
To millions of your earthly sons;
Hear the prayers of your only Son;
Prompted by good Saint Joseph;
For fathers all over the world;
Especially for the ones;
That may be separated;
From their families;
By time and distance;
Or by divorce and war;
Please pour Your blessings upon all fathers;
Grandfathers and great-grandfathers;
Living and deceased;
That they may love You;
Their wives and their children;
And that they are able to provide;
For the material and emotional needs of their families;
In these troubled and difficult times;
In Jesus name we pray;
Amen.

Excellent poem !..........so apprpriate for the Father's Day.........thanks
So lovely.
Wow this is absolutely beautiful Lisa. Wonderful to know that our Lord and Savior was also the earthly son of a carpenter who loved Him dearly. Blessed was Joseph to have been chosen by God Almighty to be the earthly Dad of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed is the man who loves children and desires to care for them when he isn't even their biological dad. They are out there, far and few between. The love of Jesus shines through this. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless all of the Dad's who love their children. Blessed is the man who loves children. God Bless you in Jesus name.
You are welcome, Charles....Thanks to all who commented....Happy Father's Day!
