I have mixed feelings about summer.
Less school to interfere with my kid-time,
but excessive heat can be a real bummer,
yet swimming can make that quite fine.
I may miss the quiet of the kids' school hours,
and I may miss the chance at a nap I may need.
Rather than mysterious odors the house smells more like flowers,
and there are two less meals to create and then feed.
My family is completely the joy of my life,
though they may frustrate, irritate and make me irate,
but even on all the days of squabbling and strife,
there are so many moments that make the crazy days great.
There are good things about all times of the year.
Winter brings our area the occasional fun snow fights.
Spring shows the colors that can cause a joyful tear,
and summer brings swimming in the sun so bright.
I love and look forward to summer with my husband and kids.
The kids and I love our special time with their wonderful dad.
Whether the time is the best, mediocre or hits the skids,
We all truly treasure whatever time that we had.
