called you,
texted your phone
unwilling to believe it.
I warned you about those
albino monocle cobras and coral snakes.
Is there antivenin available in this country?
In the end none of that even mattered.
Did you know how much it meant to me
that you made those calls every year on mother's day?
I cannot bring myself to remove your number from my phone.
I miss you and no matter how badly it ended I know
you were one of the good ones and did not leave on purpose.

Post a CommentI do remember reading this. It's a touching piece and very creative. :)
Loki, I am sorry for your loss. One of my close friends is an addiction medicine MD. I work with her 2 days a week and I see so much pain and loss cause by heroin and opiate abuse. Heartbreaking.
He is still in my phone and every now and then something comes up and brings it all back. I hope people can see the little did you know: Canadian researcher Shepard Siegel found that most deaths are not due to an overdose. Heroin abusers died taking the same dose of heroin they normally injected.
Very powerful. I'm sorry you had to hurt to express this so well. Perhaps it helped you to get the feeling out and perhaps it also will help someone else. :-)
I'm sorry, too. Let the tears out. *hugs*
