Goodbye Again Mr. Squirrel

Harold Dean Sink
I hear the chatter.

The sound does matter

When the birds fly about.

You hear the screeching

And you could be preaching

To the critter lying about.

The red tailed squirrel

Mocks the girls

As it takes the food it needs.

It must live near

As the birds sneer

At the fleeting food bleeds.

The quarrel is over

As a shadow hovers,

And the squirrel runs away.

We all look up

To see what's up

And find it's not a blue jay.

The hawk on high

Came to wave the squirrel goodbye.

You're so right, Harold. I get irked when the squirrels get in my bird feeders, but they're so fun to watch, you can't help but love them.
