Brett Favre has meant a lot to the great Packer nation. I have been watching him since I was little girl. When Favre took the field on his first game, nobody in Wisconsin thought they would be watching a legend right before their eyes. He really brought back football to Green Bay and gave us hope for bringing home a championship.
Brett Favre epitomized everything in a great leader. Some Favre "haters" out there like to point to the fact that he was addicted to painkillers early in his career. Does that make him a bad leader? Not in my book it doesn't. Every leader has a fault and he admitted it to the world. Brett Favre is the only quarterback to take every single snap for 17 years straight. He never turned his back on his organization even when they went 4 and 12. He never complained about his paycheck and even would take a cut to get the players in Green Bay that they needed.
Brett Favre is a tough man, with a kid mentality. What other quarterback celebrates every single touchdown? My favorite celebration was this year when he picked Donald Driver up and threw him over his shoulder and ran around with him. Brett Favre just wanted to have fun out there. You never saw him getting into the faces of his teammates like many other quarterbacks out there. He just shook it off and ran with it, hoping for a win. As Brett Favre retires, he takes with him, the suspense and the fun-loving style of football us Packers fans look forward to each Sunday.
Brett Favre was never about the records. Yeah, he has a few: most touchdowns, most interceptions, most consecutive starts, most passing yards, as well as 3 MVPs, and most wins to name a few. Brett Favre was always about what was best for the team. He never cared if he broke Marino's touchdown record this season, but when he did, he knew he was the greatest. He always played for Sunday, unlike many other players who play for stats. He was definitely the best player to take the field because of his selflessness.
Brett Favre will deeply be missed by the Packers nation. It will be a long time before us to get passed the legend that once graced Lambeau field that is Brett Favre. He leaves big shoes to be filled by Aaron Rodgers. Favre also leaves a young team, that he helped shape, with great potential to be a contender for years. Brett Favre, my hat's off to you! Thanks for the memories!

Post a CommentI think he has a lot left. I will miss this tough quarterback. Nice article. Go Packers!
Hate to see him go. : )
You spoke a tad too soon.
Even though I'm from california I actually had a chance to meet Brett Farve while I was working at the Citgo gas station in Milwaukee. I'm a die hard raiders fan, but Brett is a real cool dude to meet and chop it with(talk to). Hate to see him leave the game, he's up there with the list of greats such as Joe and Young
