Good-Bye June

Susan Owens
A simple thought comes to mind
Of all those Junes left behind
The ones that I have long forgotten
Hidden beneath the sands of time
How many have come to pass?
Twenty? Thirty?
Maybe even forty
I don't know
For I have lost count long ago
When I reach for a memory of June
A moment is just not there
I find that my mind has gone bare
But why?
The answer is quite simple, really
For no June has intrigued me
And has left me believing
In Junes yet to come
So patiently I await the day
When June's magic carries me away
