1. Health Insurance: This one is inevitable. I know many individuals who have already been affected by this increase. Unfortunately, the increases look like they will be major, not $10 or $20 per month but in many cases I have seen increases as high as a $100.00 per month. That's quite a bite out of a paycheck, especially if there hasn't been any wage increases.
2. Coffee: Coffee futures jumped 40% in the past year, so there's no end in sight for the rise on your daily cup, or two or three of java.
3. Chocolate: Cocoa is at a very high demand and growing. We love our chocolates. Expect higher prices and smaller packages to appear on store shelves with your favorite chocolate bars and cocoa drinks.
4. Dollar Menus: You might have to do a little more searching in 2011 to find fast food restaurants with dollar menus. If they do have them, the variety of items offered will be slimmer, I'm guessing.
5. Airfare: The airlines are constantly adding new fees to ride that big jet. Weather it's baggage fees, fuel surcharges, seating, snacks etc., the airlines have had a lot of success with doing this and will continue to do it. They make a lot of money on all these added fees and the consumer is at the mercy of the airlines in having to pay these extra charges. There's absolutely nothing you can do about it if you want to get from point A to point B via the airplane.
6. College Tuition: There are never ending price increases on college tuition. It's almost as bad or worse then the health insurance increases. I don't know how our young people are going to ever get all those college loans that they need paid off, especially the way the job market is today. Hopefully some relief will be in sight soon.
7. Music: Expect to see price increases in 2011 on your digital buying sites like Netflex, Blockbuster etc. Apple seemed to have jump-started this trend and it will continue.
8. Breakfast items: Grain prices are soaring so expect to pay more for your bacon & eggs and milk & cereals. These essential breakfast items are on many dining tables in the morning so you won't be able to avoid the increasing costs for "your most important meal of the day".
9. Cars: Don't expect to see big rebates and cheap financing if you're in the market for this big ticket item in 2011. Car sales were up in 2010 so carmakers aren't as desperate as they were a year or two ago.
10. Sports Tickets: One of the nations most popular forms of entertainment is definitely going to cost you more in 2011. Someone has to pay for all those new sports facilities that are popping up all over the nation, so sportsfans can expect an increase in ticket prices if they're planning on attending these events.
These are just 10 of the items that we can expect to have to dig deeper into our wallets for in 2011. There are a number of others not listed here that we can expect to be more expensive in the near future. Go to dealnews.com for a more complete list.
